As a small business owner, you have a lot of opportunities to make a good, positive impact on the community, and I tell you, Ripple Glass has been one of those I’ve been most proud of.

As we continue to try to be the greenest Grocer in KC, Ripple has been a great partner in order to help us meet those goals. Ripple actually shares the numbers and the data with us so we can share that with our team and customers as well.

It’s everyone’s responsibility to do what we can for sustainability, and this is a really easy way to take part… We are actually a zero-landfill facility, so this is one aspect of our contribution, but we often have companies call us and ask what can they do to go zero-landfill. One of the easiest things to recycle is your glass, so start there.

Ripple Glass is always on point. They work directly with our facilities team and any time that there is a need, they’re there… It’s really a win-win process - it helps Kansas City live a sustainable way of life, which is what we’re promoting every day, but also, it’s driving visitation to your area. Honestly, there’s really no reason to say “no.”

Having multiple opportunities of diverting waste from the landfill has been a huge priority both in my time as Mayor and now as my time as Chair. But it’s a tool in the toolkit that is available for us as we try to meet the goal of being a sustainable community, but also one of the best in the nation.
